Victor R. Helou is an actor, singer, director, teacher, and photographer who has performed in eight musicals on Broadway and two National Tours. Carrying his camera to many rehearsals enabled him to capture a stunning collection of over 100 stars of stage and screen in their most natural and casual moods, as well as shooting many beautifully posed images.


Some of his most intriguing works came from his singing performance with a number of other Broadway neophytes at Madison Square Garden on May 19, 1962. On that evening, a host of the rich and famous gathered to participate in New York's Birthday Salute for President John F. Kennedy, featuring a special performance of "Happy Birthday" as sung by Marilyn Monroe. Mr. Helou managed to shoot some unique backstage photographs of Marilyn, as well as catching many other stars with his camera that night, including Jack Benny, Maria Callas, Ella Fitzgerald, Shirley MacLaine, and Henry Fonda.
